5 Stars Picture is amazing!
I did a pretty indepth review before I bought….wanted a strong picture quality, but did not want to spend an outrageous amount of money. When it came, I have to admit I struggled with the initial setup. It does need a little bit of calibration, but the system has multiple ways to get it to what you like. Initially, the picture did not come in very clear. I use Comcast and it was a little blurry at first. I talked to Comcast and the gal said to leave the box on for about 4 hours, and sure enough the picture got better and better.

Watching TV shows in HD with this set is mind boggling! You feel like you are there. Shows like SVU and CSI will look unlike anything you have seen before, and I had an HD set before. Not sure of the technology behind it, but you will not be disappointed. Sports are fantastic as well.

I spent $660 for this set, and it was well worth it. My next LCD will also be an LG!

1 Stars Don’t buy from COMPUSA
As you see here You will expect 42LH40, but they gonna send you 42LH30. First time I thought it was very nice deal. it lowest price I could found online. I am very disappointed. I called COMPUSA, and talk about my model number problem. They don’t even know what is different between 42lh30 and 42lh40! don’t buy from compusa.

4 Stars Can’t beat the features for the price
We wanted a good-quality TV for a low price and that’s exactly what we got. The LG has a good number of features that are relatively easy to access through on-screen menus. The full manual on CD is adequate; the on-screen easy access manual is rather slim pickings.

The picture quality is about what one would expect for the price but if you want better, it comes with a hefty price tag. There’s a variety of input/output options, although I wouldn’t have minded a 3.5mm headphone jack.

All-in-all, it’s a nice TV that gets the job done.

5 Stars Best Christmas gift for my husband!
First of all I was so scared to order something like this without seeing it. I read all the reviews and trusted Amazon. When it was delivered to my mother’s as it was a gift the man offered to set it up. I was impressed. I bought the 42″ and did not know if it would be the best size. It is perfect. The picture quality is outstanding and I love that the sound is so clear my husband doesn’t have to turn it up so loud the neighbors can hear it. He LOVES this tv. I felt I got a good price on Amazon and with no tax or shipping it was great. I am sitting here watching it now. Great tv. Don’t hesitate if you are thinking of a flat screen. LG has done a superior job with this!

5 Stars Fantastic TV that doesn’t let you down.
I purchased this TV during a great sale offer for $780.00 + free shipping. It was delivered early too! I was hesitant to buy a TV on line, so I went to 3 different stores to see it in person. It was beautiful in the stores, but I know there are ways they can fool you to think one TV is better than another. Plus it was at least $899.00.

When it arrived it took only 20 minutes to set up. Simply cut the ties, lift the top box off, remove the stickers, screw in 4 screws to the base, and plug in your cables. That easy. I had no issues with the sound like in other reviews. That issue seemed to be only with one set of shipments around September 09′ from the manufacturer, and was a simple factory setting that can be changed quite easily (check earlier reviews for the fix). The picture takes a little tweaking to get to your liking, but the factory settings are a great start. Also there are settings on line if you look up the model number on Google.

Don’t even think about buying this TV without HDMI cables though. AVI cables just ruin what you spent all the money for in my opinion. The difference was night and day. I never had used or seen a picture through HDMI, and the first day I wasn’t even using them properly due to my lack of knowledge on how to set up the inputs. When I did figure it out it blew me away at the difference in movies and cable TV. The picture on the HD channels you get without cable service is brilliant, clear, and almost like being there in person. I think I’ll spend the 10 per month extra from Time Warner Cable and get all the HD channels. Worth it in my opinion. The clarity is better than the other sets I compared in stores at the same price.

I have contemplated for years buying a LCD TV and I’m glad I waited. Now this technology is almost top of the line (minus the 240 Hz refresh which is not needed until 47″ and above in my opinion) and for a much more reasonable price than the big name competitors like Sony, Samsung, and Panasonic. The blacks are not as deep as Samsung, but that is the only feature not as good for Samsung only. Beets the pants off the other before mentioned brands. I feel the price and the rest of the “better” features make up for that one shortcoming. Plus, if deep blacks are your desire you should really think about a Plasma.

The sound is great in my opinion. I’m half deaf and unable to really give a good sound comparison/review, but I can say that a feature that allows you to turn up the voice audibles higher than the background audibles is invaluable for someone with my hearing problems. The sound goes up to 100, and with this feature fine tuned I use 15 for TV and 25 for movies. For the first time I can hear every word spoken in the movie/program. Before I always had to guess as to what was being said, turn the TV up to a level that bothered the neighbors, or relied on lip reading. Finally no more loosing the plot or getting frustrated and giving up on a movie.

Do yourself a favor and look into this TV. For the price I feel you can only get substandard brands, or a “name brand” at a smaller size if you go another route. I have nothing but positive things to say about this TV, and I have no buyers remorse. That is unusual for me when buying something with this type of price tag. I usually kick myself when spending this kind of money, but now I’m only kicking myself for waiting so long. I guess good things come to those with patience.

Happy shopping,

J Ratliff
