User Ratings and Reviews

1 Stars Broke after 4 hrs of use
I bought this set during an Amazon limited time special package sale that included a $200 credit towards a Panasonic Blu-ray player. Heck of a deal. Great price on the plasma set itself and essentially got a free blu-ray. It was too good to pass. Very timely shipping and great white glove delivery service. I would certainly not hesitate to purchase another large LCD/plasma set from Amazon. However, my enthusiasm lasted all of 4 hours - which is how long the set worked before it broke the very first day.

While watching cable TV it turned itself off and the red power light starting blinking (in sequence of 3 blinks). Attempted a quick fix of unplugging and plugging back in per Panasonic’s online troubleshooting suggestion. No change. I’m afraid the power supply is shot, and/or some other circuit board.

This particular model has what Panasonic calls “Viera concierge service”..? Had an online chat with a tech specialist, but bottom line is that it needs a service call and replacement part(s). Part has to be ordered, so delivery time and the weekend means the set will be down at least 5 days. But, now I’m paranoid and feel compelled to purchase an extended warranty. Or, I may contact Amazon re: a return — this is just unacceptable.

Amazon pricing and delivery was first rate. But, how can anyone be pleased with a product that becomes completely unusable the first day of ownership? Very unsatisfied with this product and will not buy another Panasonic set.

post repair update: the problem turned out to be what the repairman called the “A” board, the main circuit board. It was not the power supply board. Fortunately, this is what he had on hand and installed it without having to take the set to the shop. It’s working fine now, but it’s only been 2 weeks.

5 Stars Panasonic Plamsas: The Hidden Secret in TV value
There has to be something wrong with plasmas, right?

That’s what I kept telling myself as I searched for the perfect TV for my needs and budget.

I mean, this TCP46G10 I was looking at was hundreds of dollars less than comparably sized LCD TVs, got better reviews from CNET and Consumer Reports, and had better motion handling and viewing angles.

But I went to my local Best Buy or Fry’s and only saw a few dusty plasmas in the corner of their showrooms. I got funny looks as I gave them some interest.

I saw several other customers basking in the fluorescent glow of the inaccurately bright colors of the LCD screens and realized that these people were essentially moths drawn to a flame. That must be why LCDs are selling so well.

What’s more: It seemed like the LCDs (and even the LED-based LCDs) were touting all of these advancements that made their TVs more like plasmas. Plasma-like motion handling. Black levels like a plasma TV. Near-plasma viewing angles.

Well if they’re selling themselves as almost like plasmas, why don’t I just GET a plasma and save $500?

That settled it. I drove home and fired off an order for the TCP46G10 right away. (Amazon’s prices were the lowest, and their shipping was fast and free.) The colors are natural (and plenty bright, thank you), and the motion is crisp.

In fact, there’s nothing wrong with my plasma at all.

5 Stars excellent product
very satisfied - the viera cast thing is pretty useless if you are already use a pc connection

1 Stars IF YOU VALUE CUSTOMER SERVICE DO NOY BUY PANASONIC
I have a 52″ Panasonic TV that is less then 2 years old recently it has just turned off all by itself and will not work unless it is unplugged for 15-30 min.s and then it just turns off again after less than and hour of it being turned on, it has been doing this for 2 weeks now. I called Panasonic and they gave me the numbers of 2 service centers in my area, AFTER BEING ON HOLD WITH THEIR SERVICE LINE FOR NEARLY 2 HOURS (and if you live in an area where there are no service centers your basically screwed), neither of which would answer their phones, my TV now will not turn on at all. It did not over heat it is not in the sun and there was no power surge to cause this. I have continued to call Panasonic for their help but they have told me the TV is past the 1 year warranty and there are “limited” options right now. One of the service centers finally called me back and the MINNIMUM cost of repair for something like this is 400-500$$$ and he said he sees this all the time more than not with these TV’s!!!!! Look around on-line flat screen and plasmas are KNOWN for doing this and yet no one mentions this before you buy it!!! So if you plan on spending some money on a TV get the longest warranty that is offered because this will more than likely happen to you and Panasonic does NOTHING to back their products or to help their customers!!!!! Buy a TV through a company that has a good warranty and has good customer service NOT PANASONIC!!!!
