User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Nice TV, but all features aren’t available as advertised.
Pros:

Variable speaker setting allows external speakers to be adjusted using the TV’s volume control.

Customizable caption is an interesting feature that allows you to customize the font, color and size of text on digital channels only. I had a Dynex that allowed customization on digital and analog channels.

Partial channel search is useful for when you’re searching for viewable channels and don’t want to do a whole channel search again. It’s still no separate manual channel add like some other TV’s.

Screen doesn’t flash when changing aspect screen size.

1080p which on a 32″ screen, doesn’t show any difference between 720p. However, as a PC monitor the picture quality will be much sharper and not cropped when using clone mode.

PIP is also a nice feature to have. To make this work, you need go into parental settings and punch in 0000 and turn off the “rating enable” feature. The PIP should then work as it should on any source.

It has three v1.3 HDMI ports, two component, VGA PC input, two AV inputs and one headphone jack.

Changes channels fast and can easily switch to TV mode when changing to a channel from any other input.

The name VIZIO lights up in white while on and orange when off.

Powers on quickly compared to my old Olevia and Dynex. From the moment the remote button is pressed, this TV took 8 seconds to fully power on. My old Olevia took at least 15 seconds before you could see the screen and/or control anything. The Dynex took 12 seconds to power on.

Cons:

The manual implies that this TV has a guide that allows you to see what’s on now, later and displays the time. Not anymore. I contacted Vizio about this and was told that the recent TV’s being shipped has updated firmware that removed this feature, yet neither the manual or online manual has been updated. I was told that Vizio is working on this and will find a way to get this feature back to the “updated” TV’s. But because there is no guide, there is no time display either. I also found out that there are two versions of this TV. One is made in China while the other is made in Mexico which apparently doesn’t have the guide.

Another thing I’d like to mention is that this TV doesn’t have separate input settings. My Olevia and Dynex were able to have separate settings for every input. Say I wanted to have max color on HDMI, but half color on component, can’t have that with this TV. So basically, I’d have to find some universal settings that look good on all input sources or constantly adjust them for every input.

One weird thing is that this TV remembers the volume levels for different inputs. You could have the volume at 10 for TV mode, but switch over to AV mode and it would be at 15 or switch to component and it would be 8. It would be whatever the last volume level was for that mode. I don’t know if this is an error on Vizio’s part or what.

Doesn’t remember the aspect ratio of the screen for different inputs. My 2 year old Olevia could do this. I could set TV mode to 4:3 and component to 16:9 and it would automatically return to those ratios when using that specific input. If the remote wasn’t so simple and had the buttons on it for these functions, I wouldn’t worry about it. I’d just hit the button to change it. Having to go though the menus for everything gets annoying. The only alternative for now is to order the remote for the VW32L. It’s looks kind of plain compared to the one included, but it has all the buttons I’m looking for.

This TV doesn’t have an antenna signal strength bar. This is useful if you’re forced to use an antenna doing a cable/sat outage or if you just want free HD channels.

Doesn’t have simple bass, tremble, etc settings for the speakers. No big deal if your using a surround system or any other external speakers like me.

Doesn’t have caption on mute. This is useful if you need to mute the TV for any reason, but still want to know what’s being said.

5 Stars I am impressed!!
I purchased this newest version of a Vizio 32 inch with 1080P. I am very impressed with the picture and sound. Two HDMI inputs for my high definition cable box and my blu ray DVD player. Crystal clear picture and the sound is amazing. This makes the second Vizio tv that I have purchased. I also own the 42 inch plasma Vizio. The sound on the 32 inch is so much better. The picture quality is awesome on both too. I highly recommend this product!!
